BNP rally begins at Nayapaltan

BNP leaders and activists have started gathering in front of the party's Nayapaltan headquarters to take part in Monday's protest event.

To support their ten-point plan, which calls for holding the national election under a nonpartisan interim administration, party members have descended upon the event in a small procession.

By observing the program, the BNP and other political parties are taking part in the organized demonstration against the rise in electricity rates.

The massive sit-in event's protest strategy was made announced by BNP on January 11.

When visiting the spot, it is found that the area around the party's Nayapaltan headquarters had been taken over by leaders and activists from the front and affiliate associations since noon.

A temporary stage made of three trucks is set up in front of the party's headquarters.

A good number of police officers and representatives from various law enforcement agencies have been stationed in Nayapaltan and the neighborhood in order to prevent any untoward incidents.
