GCC polls: Two arrested for disruption

Two men have been arrested for disrupting the polling process in the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election.

The Election Commission (EC) is monitoring the polls through CCTV cameras set in the polling centres. At around 9:30am, Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana noticed an irregularity in the GCC polling centre number 100.

She immediately called the official in charge of the election and said, "A Panjabi-clad man is sitting in booth number 3 in polling centre number 100. He is not listening to anyone.

“He is not leaving either. He is forcing people to vote. He is disrupting the voting process. Take prompt action, arrest him if needed."

The Panjabi-clad man, named Abdur Rahim, was arrested by the law enforcers.

Another man was arrested from GCC polling centre number 103. He was sentenced to three days in jail by a mobile court.
