Cocktail bombs explode in front of Natore BNP office

Several crudely made cocktail bombs exploded in front of the BNP office of Alaipur in Natore on Saturday, right before the party’s scheduled rally.

Confirming the incident, Natore Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Nasim Ahmed said police has also retrieved two unexploded cocktail bombs from the spot. The bombs will be disposed of.

The rally was part of a nationwide programme to press home the BNP's 10-point demand, including holding the next polls under a non-party neutral government and protesting against the arrest and harassment of party leaders and activists in 'false cases.'

Meanwhile, the Natore unit of Chhatra League also brought out a procession in the city and tried to move towards the BNP office which the police stopped in front of the PDB office. The procession dispersed after half an hour.

"Due to the police's strong stance, there was no clash," OC Nasim said.
