Candidates get symbol in RCC polls, start campaign

Symbols were allocated among the candidates in the upcoming election of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) on Friday.

Four mayoral candidates, 112 general councillors and 46 women councillors in reserved seats were allocated symbols at Rajshahi District Shilpakala Academy auditorium, Rajshahi Regional Election Officer Delwar Hossain said.

All four mayoral candidates got their respective party symbols, he added.

They are – Bangladesh Awami League nominated candidate and former mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton (Boat), Jatiya Party candidate Saiful Islam Swapan (Plough), Islami Andolon candidate Murshid Alam (Hand Fan) and Jaker Party candidate Latif Anwar (Rose).

The candidates, accompanied by their supporters, have already started their respective campaigns for the polls scheduled for June 21.
