PM pays homage to Bangabandhu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid respects to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Awami League (AL).

She paid homage to Bangabandhu on Friday morning by placing a wreath at his portrait in the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi-32.

After laying the wreath, the prime minister was silent for a long as a mark of profound respect for Bangabandhu.

Later, senior party officials joined Sheikh Hasina, who is also the President of the Awami League, as she laid another wreath before the portrait of Bangabandhu as a sign of respect.

To begin the day's activities, Sheikh Hasina and AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader hoisted the national and party flags and released balloons and pigeons.

The Bangladesh Awami League was founded on this day in 1949. Later, it grew to become the largest political party in the country, leading the War of Liberation and all other democratic endeavors.
