Zahangir to join AL rally with 15,000 men

Gazipur's former mayor Zahangir Alam, who was permanently expelled from the Awami League in May this year, is on his way to join the party's peace rally in Dhaka on Wednesday.

According to a post on Zahangir's personal Facebook profile, the ex-mayor is accompanied by nearly 15 thousand leaders and activists, occupying 300 buses and 70 microbuses.

Awami League's (AL's) Dhaka City North and South units will hold a peace rally against terrorism and anarchy.

The rally will be held in front of the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 3pm, according to a press release issued Tuesday.

AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will address the rally as the chief guest.

Dhaka City South AL President valiant freedom fighter Abu Ahmed Mannafi will chair the rally, while Dhaka City North AL General Secretary SM Mannan Kachi will moderate it. AL Central leaders, cabinet members, and members of parliament will also join the rally.
