Dhaka-17 by-polls: Bike movement banned from Saturday midnight

The Election Commission has imposed a ban on the movement of motorcycles for 72 hours and other vehicles for 48 hours in the Dhaka-17 area during the by-polls slated for Monday (July 17). 

Dhaka-17, consisting of Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and a portion of the Dhaka Cantonment, holds the distinction of being the most affluent constituency in the capital.

The restriction on the plying of motorcycles is set to come into effect on Saturday midnight, and for other vehicles from Sunday midnight in the election areas, reads an EC notification issued in this regard on Saturday.

According to the notification, movement of trucks, buses, minibuses, microbuses, vans, cars and easy bikes will be restricted from July 16 midnight to July 17 midnight.

In the case of motorcycles, the restriction will be effective from July 15 midnight to July 18 midnight.
