BNP not allowed to hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan or Nayapaltan

Since Thursday is a working day, the BNP has been denied permission by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to hold a rally in the city's Nayapaltan or Suhrawardy Udyan on Thursday.

DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq on Wednesday said that they would be glad to grant the BNP permission to hold its demonstration at Golapbagh Field.

No comment is found yet from BNP in this regard.

Khandker also said that the Supreme Court had told DMP not to allow demonstrations there during court hours.

The DMP commissioner had earlier suggested that political parties should hold rallies on weekend days coming future in order to alleviate public hardship. If this doesn't work, the DMP might have to forbid political gatherings.
