AL cancels Monday's peace rally

The Awami League's (AL) peace rally scheduled for Monday at the capital's Agargaon has been cancelled.

Confirming the matter, the President of Dhaka North unit of AL Bazlur Rahman on Sunday told the media, "We have decided to cancel the peace rally as the old trade fair ground is not suitable for use. However, a protest procession will be held at the Dhaka North Awami League wards."

On Saturday night, Dhaka City South unit of AL general secretary Humayun Kabir told the media that Dhaka City North and South units of AL would hold a peace rally at the old trade fair ground in Agargaon of Dhaka.

Earlier, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced a countrywide demonstration by AL and its associated bodies from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, protesting BNP's arson terrorism.
