50,000 AL men to join Rangpur rally from Gaibandha

At least 50,000 leaders and activists of the Awami League from Gaibandha will join a massive public rally in the divisional city of Rangpur on Wednesday which Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina is expected to address.

Party leaders are expecting at least 10 lakh people to attend the rally. Leaders from Gaibandha said among them, 50,000 or more will attend from the district.

Gaibandha district AL chairman Abu Bakar Siddique said 500 buses and other vehicles will carry the leaders and activists to Rangpur.

The divisional grand rally will begin at the ground of the Rangpur Zilla School at 2pm. According to party sources, the Prime Minister is expected to address the rally at 3pm to drum up public support in favour of her party's electoral symbol "Boat" ahead of the upcoming national polls.

She is going to address a rally on the same ground after a gap of 12 years.

The premier is scheduled to reach Rangpur at 1:30pm by helicopter.

She will also lay the cornerstone for five additional projects at the rally in addition to launching 27 development schemes.

In the Rangpur division, especially in the divisional city, enthusiasm and celebration have been pervasive among the leaders and activists of the AL and its front and associate organisations.

Everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, is looking forward to the prime minister's address.
