Brahmanbaria-2 MP Abdus Sattar dies

Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail and Ashuganj) MP and former state minister Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan has passed away. He was 84.

The MP breathed his last at the capital's Evercare Hospital at around 3am on Saturday. He was admitted to the hospital a week ago due to kidney disease. His son Mainul Hasan Tushar confirmed the matter.

Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan was an elected lawmaker from Brahmanbaria and Cumilla as a BNP candidate five times, including the 11th parliamentary election held in 2018. He resigned from BNP in December 2022. Later, he won the Brahmanbaria-2 by-elections as an independent candidate in 2023 with the backing of the Awami League.
