Annie tells lie in court: Home Minister

Following arrest warrant, police have arrested BNP Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

The minister made the statement in response to a question from journalists after the autumn festival organised by Satyen Sen artists' group at Bakultala of Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on Friday.

Kamal said, "There were two cases filed in Lakshmipur against Annie. He did not take bail. So, he was arrested. He made false allegations in the court. No door of his house was broken. He lied to attract the court.”

“Warranted accused have to go to court and get bail. But Annie did not do so. What he is saying in the court is also untrue because he could not show any evidence of torture. Police did not torture him. There is a CC camera. We can't find any sign of torture. He is still in the state in which he was brought wearing white clothes,” the minister continued.

BNP alleged that Annie was taken away from his house in Dhanmondi on the night of October 10. Then on Wednesday, the police produced Annie before the court of Dhaka in the case of sabotage of Dhanmondi Police Station.
