BNP leaders arrested for involvement with crimes: Anisul

Law Minister Anisul Huq said the BNP officials were not arrested because they were political figures but rather because they were involved in criminal activities.

In answer to a question from reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday, the minister said there was no political reason for the arrests.

"They were arrested for their connection in crimes, which are not linked to politics," said the lawmaker.

The minister and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), met earlier. He further mentioned that IGP paid a courtesy call and they had discussed all issues.
