AL sells 1,064 nomination forms on day one, earns Tk5.32cr

The ruling Awami League (AL) on Saturday sold 1,064 nomination forms on the first day of the nomination paper distribution for the 12th national elections.

"Among them, 1,050 people directly collected the nomination forms, while 14 aspirant candidates collected the forms online," AL office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua told journalists after the sale of nomination forms on the first day at the AL's Bangabandhu Avenue central office.

He said the AL sold 213 party nomination forms in Dhaka Division, 198 in Chattogram Division, 55 in Sylhet Division, 105 in Mymensingh Division, 75 in Barishal Division, 125 in Khulna Division, 109 in Rangpur Division and 169 in Rajshahi Division.

A total of 5.32 crore was earned by selling the nomination papers on the first day, Barua said.

The ruling Awami League (AL) started selling its nomination forms among the aspirant candidates on Saturday for the parliamentary elections slated for January 7.

Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the selling of party nomination forms for the elections at the party's central office on 23 Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

The party aspirants can collect and submit the nomination papers from 10 am on November 18 to 4 pm on November 21 every day.

Sheikh Hasina collected the nomination form for herself to participate in the polls of the Gopalganj-3 constituency.

Later, Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader collected a nomination form for the Noakhali-5 constituency (Companiganj and Kabirhat).
