AL sells 3,362 nomination forms, earns Tk 16.81crore

The Awami League has sold 3,362 nomination forms to aspirant candidates who are prepared to compete in the 12th national elections, which are set for January 7 of next year.

Barrister Biplab Barua, the AL Office Secretary, told reporters on Tuesday that the party had earned Taka 16.81 crore from the sale of nomination papers after the sales of the forms had concluded.

Each nomination form was priced at Tk 50,000.

Of them, 121 applicants got the forms online, and the other applicants got them from the AL's headquarters office on Bangabandhu Avenue.

During the four days, nomination forms were obtained by 730 candidates from the Dhaka division, 659 from the Chattogram division, 172 from the Sylhet division, 295 from Mymensingh division, 258 from the Barishal division, 416 from the Khulna division, 302 from Rangpur division, and 409 from the Rajshahi division.

On November 18, AL President Sheikh Hasina formally launched the party's nomination papers selling.
