Resignation of 3 technocrats effective

The resignation of two technocrat ministers and one state minister from the cabinet has become effective.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Posts, Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman and State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Ala resigned from their respective posts on November 19. Their resignation came into effect on Wednesday.

Three advisers to the prime minister – Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman, Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi – have also resigned.

After the resignation of the three technocrat ministers, now there are 44 cabinet members except the Prime Minister and of them 23 are ministers, 18 are state ministers and three are deputy ministers.

Technocrat ministers are individuals who, not being elected members of parliament, are appointed to the cabinet based on special considerations.
