US will not speculate on Bangladesh polls outcome

The United States is not going to speculate on the outcome of the elections in Bangladesh, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has stated.

He made the remark in response to a journalist's query at a press briefing on Monday (December 4).

When asked how the US Government assess the likelihood of a free and fair election atmosphere in Bangladesh, miller said, "We will continue to engage with the government, opposition, civil society, and other stakeholders to urge them to work together for the benefit of the Bangladeshi people to ensure free and fair elections that are conducted in a peaceful manner."
