14-party to contest in national polls with 'Boat'

14-party alliance coordinator and spokesperson Amir Hossain Amu said they will take part in the 12th parliamentary elections in conjunction with the alliance.

The decision was taken at Amu 's Eskaton residence in the city on Tuesday afternoon. 

In the meeting, Awami League (AL) led 14-party alliance has decided to contest in the national elections from the coalition with AL's election symbol 'Boat'.

Amu said the alliance will have to wait till December 17 to finalize the seat arrangement and candidates.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASOD) President Hasanul Haq Inu briefed journalists in this regard after attending the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, JASOD President Hasanul Haque Inu and General Secretary Shirin Akhtar sat in a meeting with Amir Hossain Amur at his residence.

Inu, however, expect a dignified share of seats among the alliance members.

Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with the leaders of the 14-party alliance on Monday evening. In that meeting, a four-member team was formed to distribute the seats of the 14 participating parties in the election.
