BNP to occupy streets till present govt falls: Selima

At the BNP's human chain event to mark International Human Rights Day, the party's standing committee member Selima Rahman said the BNP will continue to occupy the streets.

"The country's people are together against the fascist government. Bangladesh ranks first in violating human rights. We are occupying the streets and we will continue to do so. We will fill the country with processions. But we will not agree to this government's polls," she said while addressing the event as the chief guest.

The human chain event was organised by the Dhaka North and South units in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Sunday.

"Information minister Hasan Mahmud said the countrymen will give a befitting reply to BNP. Who is he to say such a thing? He is a minister from a voterless election," she added.

Selima Rahman also alleged that nearly 20 thousand BNP leaders and activists have been detained since October 28, and the detained people are being deprived of their rights.
