EC starts allotment of symbols

The Election Commission has started allocating electoral symbols to candidates running for the 12th National Parliament elections slated for January 7.

After getting symbols on Monday, candidates can continue their campaign till 8am on January 5.

Sunday was the last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers across the country. At a press briefing after the deadline for withdrawal of candidacy ended, Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam said the number of candidates for the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections stood at 1,896.
