A.K. Azad gets 'Eagle' symbol

A.K. Azad, independent candidate from the Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency, has received the electoral symbol 'Eagle' to run for the 12th National Parliament elections slated for January 7.

The symbol was allotted to him on Monday morning from the Faridpur Returning Officer's (RO) office.

In the same constituency, Bangladesh Congress candidate M. A. Muid Hossain got 'Coconut', Jatiya Party candidate S. M. Yahiya got 'Plough', Bangladesh Supreme Party candidate Md. Deloar Hossain got 'Ektara', and BNM candidate Golam Rabbani got 'Anchor' symbol.

The Election Commission started allocating electoral symbols to candidates on Monday. After getting symbols on Monday, candidates can continue their campaign till 8am on January 5.

Sunday was the last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers across the country. At a press briefing after the deadline for withdrawal of candidacy ended, Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam said the number of candidates for the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections stood at 1,896.
