General holiday declared on January 7

January 7 was declared as a general holiday in observance of the 12th Parliamentary Election. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.

The decision was made to facilitate the exercise of voting rights for people working in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private organisations, and teachers of government and private educational institutions, the notification reads.

Earlier, the Election Commission requested the ministry to declare a general holiday on January 7 as the 12th national election is set to take place on that day.
