BNP-police clash in Dhamrai injures cops

In favour of the BNP's polls boycott and non-cooperation movement, the party's upazila unit brought out a procession at Dhaka's Dhamrai, which ultimately ended in a clash with the police.

The clash broke out when police tried to obstruct the procession in Kalampur Bazar of Sutipara Union at around 8am. Some members of the police arrived in the area to prevent any untoward incidents and detained two BNP activists.

BNP men brought out another procession and took the two activists away from the police, vandalizing a police car in the process. The incident injured two cops. More police arrived at the spot and detained three BNP activists in this incident. Later, several videos of the incident went viral on social media.

Confirming the matter, Dhamrain Police Station Officer in Charge (Operation) Nirmal Kumar Das said, three people were detained in the incident of attack on cops and vandalism. Injured cop ASI Abdus Sobhan was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Meanwhile, police are conducting drives to capture the attackers.
