BNP's 48-hr hartal underway

A countrywide 48-hour hartal called by the BNP started at 6am on Saturday.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at an urgent virtual press conference on Thursday afternoon.

The hartal was called demanding the government to step down and hold the 12th national elections on January 7 under a neutral government. It will end at 6am on January 8 (Monday).

Along with the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and other like-minded parties are also observing the hartal.
