BNP men enter Nayapaltan office after 2.5 months

Leaders and activists of the BNP have broken the lock and entered the party's office in the capital's Nayapaltan after 2.5 months.

Led by BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party's men entered the office at around 10:45am on Thursday, chanting various slogans.

Rizvi said, "Police took away the key to this office... Even after we asked for the key, they did not give it to use. Later, we broke the lock and entered this office."

Members of the BNP's standing committee will hold a press conference in the Nayapaltan office at 3pm on Thursday, Rizvi said.

The BNP held a grand rally in front of the party headquarters at Nayapaltan on October 28, 2023. After clashes broke out, police took position in front of the office. Two days later, police barred the area with barbed wires and the office has remained locked up ever since.
