Police halts BNP orgs march to Indian High Commission

Police halted a protest march of three front organizations of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) toward the Indian High Commission in the capital on Sunday. 

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Bangladesh Jatiyatabai Swechchhasebak Dal and Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal started the protest march at 11:30am from BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital. The march was arranged in protest against the recent attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission at Agartala in India.  

A police barricade on top of the Rampura Bridge stopped the march at around 12:45pm, DMP Gulshan Zone DC Tareq Ahmed confirmed.

After facing obstruction, a six-member delegation team was allowed to continue towards the Indian High Commission to hand over a memorandum during the march protesting the desecration of the national flag of Bangladesh and the conspiracy to incite communal riots in Bangladesh.
