Army chief-Khaleda Zia meeting prompts rumours of polls

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman has met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Their meeting, which spanned 43 minutes, has prompted the circulation of various rumours, especially regarding the next national election. 

The army chief and his spouse met the BNP chief at her Gulshan residence Firoza at around 8:30 pm on Thursday. 

According to Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, he discussion primarily revolved around the health condition of the former prime minister. 

However, analysts and specialists think the meeting did not just revolve around the BNP chief's health, but rather the present political situation of the country and even the next round of polls. 

Political analyst and journalist Maruf Mallik hinted in a FaceBook post that the meeting might have fixed the next election date. 

Meanwhile, some BNP leaders think this meeting will frustrate those dreaming about the "minus two formula."
