Khaleda Zia reaches London

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has arrived in London on Wednesday afternoon for advanced medical treatment.

The air ambulance carrying her landed at Heathrow Airport at 2:55 pm (Bangladesh time) on Wednesday, said Shamsuddin Didar, press wing official of the BNP Chairperson.

Khaleda’s eldest son, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and daughter-in-law Zubaida Rahman were at the airport to welcome her.

It is learnt that Khaleda Zia is scheduled to go directly to the hospital by ambulance after completing necessary immigration procedures.

The former prime minister departed from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:47pm on Tuesday.

It took two hours and thirty-nine minutes to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from her Gulshan residence, "Firoza" as her departure was marked by a massive public support, with thousands of BNP supporters and well-wishers lining the streets.

The special Royal Air Ambulance, sent by Qatar's Emir, was scheduled to depart at 10:00pm.
