BNP to sit with govt to discuss on elections

BNP senses a lack of clarity in the interim government's statements about the national elections, suggesting that public confusion is being deliberately fostered. 

Consequently, the party has decided to sit with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus to ascertain the government's stance and convey its own position. 

The decision came from a standing committee meeting held last Monday night at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka. 

Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, informed The Daily Samakal that a request for a meeting with the chief adviser was made on Tuesday. 

The party thinks that the government could enact all essential election-related reforms through an ordinance, with further changes to be addressed by the subsequent elected parliament following political agreement. 

Sources from the meeting indicate that BNP will decide its next course of actions on the election roadmap following the discussion with the chief adviser, potentially including one or two political programmes. 

Additionally, the standing committee has planned a grand celebration of Pahela Boishakh on April 14 in Dhaka and various cities and districts, adapting to the current context, with vibrant events highlighting national culture. 

The meeting also issued a strong condemnation of Israel's actions, denouncing the brutality and genocide inflicted upon the Palestinian people.
