Ilias Kanchan-led People's Party Bangladesh launches journey

Veteran actor and road safety pioneer Ilias Kanchan launched the People's Party Bangladesh at a ceremony in Dhaka’s Intercontinental Hotel on Friday. 

The event, starting at 10:30am with a Quran recitation, featured an opening speech by Golam Sarwar Milon, the party’s executive chairman and former state minister for education. 

The party introduced its 27-member central committee and plans to seek Election Commission registration. 

Kanchan, founder of Nirapad Sarak Chai, will lead as chairman, with journalist Shaukat Mahmood as secretary general. 

The party aims to "build a country of justice." 

Kanchan stated, "As I’ve served honestly through Nirapad Sarak Chai, I aim to continue with integrity in this political platform."
