Shibir calls for unity after JCD boycotts JUCSU polls

The Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed panel "Sammilito Chhatra Oikya" General Secretary (GS) candidate Mazharul Islam has called for unity after the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD)-backed 'Sadi-Baishakhi-Sazzad-Ikra' panel boycotted the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) polls on Thursday. 

"We want to call for unity. We want to practice the politics of co-existence with them, and want to walk side by side. We are with them if they boycott the polls, we are with them if they come back," Mazharul said while talking to the media after the JCD-backed panel announced their boycott, alleging irregularities, at a press conference at the Maulana Bhasani Hall. 

After voting started at 9am, students have brought several allegations of irregularities, including barring the candidates from entering the centres, multiple votes from the same person, lack of voters' photos on the voter list, creating a mob at hall no. 21, assaulting an independent candidate, printing extra ballot paper, and bias from the authority, among others.
