BNP like a Phoenix, unbreakable despite conspiracies: Mirza Fakhrul

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), declared that the party has been subjected to numerous conspiracies and false allegations but remains steadfast like a phoenix. 

Speaking at the Kishoreganj district BNP conference on Saturday afternoon, he emphasised that BNP has contributed immensely to the nation’s progress.

He stated, “Those who were born yesterday and held different stances in 1971 should understand that BNP is like a phoenix. No one could shatter BNP. Those who attempted to destroy it through murders and secrecy have themselves fled.”

Mirza Fakhrul highlighted that BNP’s journey to its current stature was not effortless but was forged through relentless struggle. 

He described 1971 as a matter of national pride.

The BNP leader also spoke about the party’s resilience, noting that the leader who endured torture and exile during the 1-11 period has inspired a renewed vision of democracy. 

He urged supporters to seize the opportunity to allow Tarique Rahman to lead the country. 

Addressing party leaders and activists at the conference, Mirza Fakhrul remarked that those chanting the name of a certain leader would face a “minus number.”

He credited Ziaur Rahman with establishing the democratic framework that is widely discussed today, laying the foundation for modern Bangladesh. 

Mirza Fakhrul added that the freedom to hold programmes in such an open environment was earned through immense sacrifices and bloodshed during the mass uprising. 

He extended congratulations to Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and the students who ousted the “fascists” through the uprising.
