CPB elects new leadership at 13th Congress

Sajjad Zahir Chandan, previously a member of the CPB Presidium, has been elected President of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) for a four-year term. 

Abdullah Kafi Ratan, also a former Presidium member, has been appointed as the new General Secretary. 

The elections took place during the first meeting of the 43-member Central Committee at the 13th Congress of the CPB, held at Mukti Bhaban in Purana Paltan. 

The meeting, which started at 11 am and concluded at 1 pm on Wednesday, also elected other Presidium members: Mujahidul Islam Selim, Rafiquzzaman Layek, SA Rashid, Ragib Ahsan Munna, Jolly Talukder, and Aminul Farid.
