Tarique Rahman hopes to come back home in time for polls

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said he hopes to be back in Bangladesh in time for the upcoming National Parliamentary Election. 

He made the remarks at an interview published on the BBC Bangla on Monday. 

It has been nearly two decades since Tarique Rahman sat for a one-to-one interview with any media. In the long interview, he spoke about his party's tactics for the upcoming polls, Awami League's politics, Bangladesh's politics centring the polls, and BNP's stance on several contemporary issues. 

Head of BBC News Bangla Mir Sabbir and Senior Journalist Qadir Kallol took the interview. 

When asked, Tarique Rahman said he has been unable to return to Bangladesh for some reasons, but the time is near and he hopes to be back soon. He added that he hopes to be back in the country in time for the upcoming national polls. 

Tarique Rahman was also asked about the security risks regarding his return. He said he has heard of such risks from many people, and even people in the government, and various media have already published news of such risks before.
