Cocktail explosion during NCP meeting in Bogura

During a Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) coordination meeting at the Zilla Parishad auditorium in Bogura on Monday afternoon, a cocktail was thrown, with one of two devices exploding around 3:30 pm, according to eyewitnesses.

NCP’s northern chief organiser, Sarjis Alam, was present at the meeting.

Abdullah Taki, NCP’s Bogura district organiser, confirmed no casualties occurred.

In response, NCP leaders and activists staged a protest march against the attack.

Sadar Police Station OC Hasan Basir reported that police were present during the meeting.

Miscreants threw the cocktails from the roof of a nearby building by the Karatoya River.

The unexploded cocktail was deactivated, and a police operation is ongoing.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Sarjis Alam urged law enforcement to enhance vigilance to prevent such incidents.

He accused the Election Commission of bias for denying the NCP the Shapla symbol, claiming it undermines the commission’s independence.

He also called for a youth-led movement against corruption in sectors like health and education.

Regarding the July Charter, he noted the NCP did not sign it due to its lack of legal basis but would consider signing if legal grounding is established.
