Two Krishak Dal leaders die in Raiganj road crash

Two leaders of the union unit of Krishak Dal were killed in a road accident in Raiganj of Sirajganj. 

The crash happened Friday morning in front of Ghurka Nahar Agro Company on the Dhaka-Bogura highway.

The victims were Md Omar Faruk, son of the late Biru Sheikh from Dumrai Dakshinpara village in Chandaikona union, and Faridul Islam, son of the late Akbar Ali from Dumrai Madhyapara village.

Ward No. 7 Krishak Dal general secretary Md. Ayub Ali confirmed their deaths. 

Omar Faruk served as office secretary of the Ward No. 7 committee, while Faridul Islam was joint general secretary.

The two were riding a motorcycle from Bhuiyanganti to Hatikumrul when it collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction. 

Both suffered severe injuries. 

Locals rushed them to Sirajganj Shaheed M. Munsur Ali Medical College Hospital. 

As their conditions worsened, Omar Faruk was transferred to Bogura TMSS and Faridul to Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. 

Both succumbed to injuries in the evening during treatment.

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Sergeant Atiqur Rahman Atiq of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station said parts of the motorcycle have been recovered. 

Police are working to identify the truck and arrest the driver, according to OC Md. Ismail Hossain.

Raiganj Upazila BNP expressed grief over the deaths of the two party workers. 

In a condolence message, the upazila BNP president and general secretary prayed for the souls of the deceased and extended sympathies to the bereaved families.
