Fair atmosphere created, upcoming elections will be held smoothly: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Bangladesh is firmly moving toward democracy, a neutral and fair environment has been established, and the next national elections will be conducted without any hindrance.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a courtesy meeting with lawyers at the Thakurgaon District Bar Association auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, Mirza Fakhrul said the interim government has already announced a tentative election schedule, political parties have declared their candidates, and a conducive election atmosphere now prevails across the country.

The BNP leader highlighted the historic role of lawyers in safeguarding democratic rights and the rule of law in Bangladesh.

Regarding law and order, he stated that the situation in the country is currently normal and there is no situation that could disrupt the elections.

Describing the BNP as “a flowing river,” Mirza Fakhrul pointed out that four to five aspirants are competing for nomination in almost every constituency, which demonstrates the party’s vast organisational strength and vibrancy.

Among others present at the event were Thakurgaon District Bar Association President Joynal Abedin, General Secretary Md. Makdum Sabbir Mridul, District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali, and other senior lawyers and party leaders.
