Sheikh Hasina fled and put us in danger: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India, abandoning her party leaders and activists, and thereby endangered the nation.

Speaking at an election rally on Monday at the BD School Ground in the 29 Mile area of Thakurgaon Sadar, he said, "The election is taking place after a long interval, allowing people to choose their government through votes. This election differs from previous ones. In the past, symbols included the rice sheaf and the boat. This time, the boat symbol is absent. The 'captain of the boat,' Sheikh Hasina, has fled to Delhi, leaving us in danger. Had she maintained even a minimal democratic environment..."

He added, "A new symbol has emerged this time. Those who opposed independence are now seeking to form the government."

Addressing Hindu voters specifically, Mirza Fakhrul emphasised unity and equality, "There are no minorities in this country—everyone is a Bangladeshi citizen with equal rights. No one should live in fear. Move forward with courage. My brothers will always protect you and stand by your side. If BNP is elected, it will safeguard the rights of all Bangladeshis. We engage in politics not for personal gain, but for the welfare of the people."

He reiterated BNP's core objectives: protecting the rights of ordinary citizens, establishing justice, and building a truly democratic state.

Highlighting long-standing voter disenfranchisement, he affirmed, "The people have been deprived of their voting rights for years. Our commitment is to install a government chosen by the people's votes."

He encouraged locals, "Go to the polling stations without fear and cast your vote freely."

The rally drew a large crowd, including local BNP leaders, activists, and supporters from affiliated organisations.
