Jamaat's election manifesto includes 26 priorities, 10 promises

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami unveiled its election manifesto titled "Manifesto for a Safe and Humane Bangladesh" on Wednesday evening at a ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.

The manifesto features 10 core promises to build a secure and humane nation, structured as five "yes" commitments and five "no" rejections. 

The "yes" priorities include promoting honesty, unity, justice, efficiency, and employment. 

The "no" elements firmly oppose corruption, fascism, hegemony, unemployment, and extortion.

In addition, the document emphasises 26 priority issues to guide governance and national development. 

These include ensuring safe workplaces and environments for women, achieving significant female representation in the cabinet, empowering youth, implementing the July Charter, abolishing fascist systems, building a technology-driven society, prioritising youth in state management, and fostering justice-based reforms across sectors.

Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman delivered the keynote address, reflecting on the party's historical journey. 

He noted that despite 54 years of political activity, slogans like "the party is bigger than the individual, and the country is bigger than the party" have not been fully realised, with persistent inequalities. 

He linked key historical events, stating that without 1947 there would be no 1971, and without 1971, no 2024.

He described the manifesto not merely as a party programme but as a national plan and a living document shaped by public input.

Dr. Rahman highlighted that the manifesto incorporates aspirations and suggestions gathered from the people, coordinated with over 250 experts from various professions both at home and abroad.

The event was attended by leaders from Jamaat's alliance partners and diplomats from various countries. 

The overarching slogan, "Bangladesh without compromise in national interest", underscores commitments to uphold independence and sovereignty uncompromisingly, build a discrimination-free society rooted in justice and equity, empower women, and generate employment opportunities for the youth.
