Jamaat Ameer congratulates Tarique Rahman in advance as Prime Minister

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman in advance as the future Prime Minister of Bangladesh. 

This came during Tarique Rahman's visit to the Jamaat Ameer's residence on Sunday, marking a significant moment in the country's national politics.

In a subsequent Facebook post, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman wrote that he was extending advance congratulations to Tarique Rahman as the future Prime Minister. 

He described the BNP chairman's arrival at his residential office as a historic occasion and expressed hope that it would open a new chapter of political maturity, mutual respect, dialogue, and responsibility.

The Jamaat Amir shared his vision of building a Bangladesh free from fascism, rooted in sovereignty, justice, and fairness. 

He reaffirmed Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's commitment to establishing a prosperous, stable, and modern state governed by democratic values and constitutional principles.

During their discussion, Tarique reportedly assured that effective steps would be taken to prevent post-election violence and any attacks on opposition party workers or minority communities, an assurance that Dr. Shafiqur Rahman welcomed and applauded. 

He emphasised the hope that no citizen should live in fear or insecurity.

Shafiqur stated that Jamaat would extend full cooperation to the elected government on matters of national interest. 

While remaining an ideological opposition party, it would stay firm in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities—supporting the government in public welfare initiatives while being vocal wherever accountability is required.

He concluded by noting that their goal is not conflict but correction, not obstruction but vigilant observation. 

The people of Bangladesh expect a parliament that upholds justice, protects civil rights, and advances the state with stability, Jamaat chief added.
