Mahdi Amin, Saleh Shibly given PMO spokesperson role

Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin and Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh, also known as Shibly were made spokespersons of the Prime Minister's Office.

This information was released in an official notification from the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday.

According to the notification, in line with Rule 28(4) of the Rules of Business 1996, Mahdi Amin and Abu Abdullah M Saleh (Shibly) will serve as spokespersons. They will be responsible for disseminating and providing official information related to the Prime Minister's Office to the press, media, or any other medium.

Among the advisers holding the rank of State Minister, Mahdi Amin is responsible for the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment. 

Mahdi Amin played a key role in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's Central Election Steering Committee ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections and served as its spokesperson. During the election period, he regularly presented the party's position on various issues from the party's election office in Gulshan.

Mahdi Amin has actively contributed to numerous meetings, seminars, workshops, rallies, and policy discussions in Bangladesh on topics including education, training, employment, youth and women empowerment, inclusive development, and state reforms based on 31 points. 

In 2014, he became adviser to the then Senior Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Tarique Rahman. In 2024, Mahdi Amin joined the party's Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee and carried out several important responsibilities before Tarique Rahman's return to the country. 

Mahdi Amin, who is closely associated with socio-economic development policies in South Asia, has been working with the current Prime Minister for a long time.

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibly has worked in several media organisations, including UNB, Daily Manabzamin, Banglabazar Patrika, and Channel i. 

In 2004, he served as General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity, and in 1994, he was General Secretary of Dhaka University Journalists Association. 

Saleh Shibly also served as press secretary to Tarique Rahman when he was acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. 

During the four-party coalition government, he worked as First Secretary (Press) at the Kolkata Deputy High Commission. The Prime Minister's Press Secretary, Saleh Shibly, has been working closely with the elected Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairman Tarique Rahman for many decades.
