Former law minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed passes away

Former Law Minister and senior Supreme Court lawyer Shafiq Ahmed has passed away on Sunday. He was 90 years old.

He breathed his last at 5:45 pm while undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh Medical Hospital in the capital. 

Supreme Court lawyer Aksir M Chowdhury confirmed his demise to Daily Samakal. 

Barrister Shafique Ahmed was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night.

Barrister Shafique Ahmed was the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in the Awami League government from 2009 to 2014. 

He was also the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the former vice chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council.
