Jamaat-e-Islami never thinks well: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that Jamaat-e-Islami never thinks well. 

He said, “We all know their past, their history very well. That is why, the entire nation has very consciously rejected them. We have to work so that they can be completely politically eliminated in the future.”

The BNP Secretary General made such comments while condemning the statement of the Jamaat-e-Islami Amir at a briefing after a joint meeting at the central office in Nayapaltan on Saturday afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “I saw a news item in a newspaper today. The news item hurt me a lot. There, the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer says that BNP came to power through engineering. I strongly condemn it and protest it. It has been proven by his words that he (Jamaat Amir) or his party never thinks healthily.”

The BNP Secretary General said, “All the observers who came to the election, all the observation institutions, newspapers, and media in Bangladesh have admitted in one sentence that this election is the most neutral, free and fair election since the birth of Bangladesh. It was through that fair trial that BNP got the opportunity to form the government by winning 213 seats through its popularity. Therefore, I not only reject this statement of the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islam; I condemn it and express my anger.”

Mirza Fakhrul said, “We have to think about whether they (Jamaat) are wasting the opportunity and effort that we got after August 5 to institutionalize democracy in the country or whether they are again trying to create a fascist regime. We also have to think about whether they want to take the country back to dictatorship in a different way.”

The party's Secretary General, emphasizing the importance of the BNP workers' rally on May Day, called for making the rally a success in every way. 

Mirza Fakhrul said, this rally will be held at 2 pm on May 1. The chief guest at this rally will be our party chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The Secretary General said, “Our appeal to the people of Bangladesh is that they should celebrate the great May Day with due dignity, our district and upazila units of each unit have been instructed to do the same.”

In response to a question, Mirza Fakhrul Islam said, “We have said before, a party has been trying to destroy political stability in the country from the beginning... even before the elections. Even then, social media has been used unfairly with lies, propaganda, fake information. An attempt is being made to remove BNP from the people. But it has not been successful.”

The briefing was attended by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Adviser to the Prime Minister Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Sramik Dal Chief Coordinator MP Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque, South Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin, among others.
