Jamaat-e-Islami spent about Tk4.5 crore in 13th parliamentary elections

Jamaat-e-Islami's total expenditure in the 13th parliamentary elections was about Tk4.5 crore. The party's expenditure account was submitted to the Election Commission on Tuesday.

Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair submitted the account to the Election Commission's Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

According to the account statement signed by the party's Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, the total expenditure in the elections was Tk4,49,47,972.

Out of this, 225 candidates were given Tk 4 crore as donations. On average, each candidate received Tk1.5 to 2 lakh from the party.

The account statement mentions that these funds were spent on preparing and printing election manifestos, organising press conferences, entertaining, transporting election materials, visiting central leaders and campaign activities.

It further states that Tk20,90,827 was spent on election campaign, Tk14,17,599 on public meetings and tours, Tk2, 85, 902 on staff sector and Tk9,44 944 on accommodation and administrative sector.

Apart from this, information about another two lakh taka spent on various sectors has also been mentioned in the submitted accounts.
