26 leaders, activists of banned Awami League arrested in capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 26 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations in different areas of the capital. 

They were arrested in separate operations on Monday; the DMP gave this information in a press release on Tuesday. 

It said that Ramna Thana police arrested two people, Dhanmondi Thana police arrested 10 people, Bangshal Thana police arrested one person, Khilkhet Thana police arrested two people, Kadamtali Thana police arrested one person, Mohammadpur Thana police arrested eight people, Mirpur Thana police arrested one person and Turag Thana police arrested one person.

The release said that 26 members of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations were arrested in operations in eight police stations of the capital. 

Such operations will continue to maintain public security and law and order. Legal action has been taken against the arrestees.
