Jubo League leader dies in Chattogram central jail day after arrest

A day after his arrest, a banned Jubo League leader named Nurul Alam died in the Chattogram Central Jail on Wednesday morning.

Nurul Alam is said to be the joint convener of Dhemsha Union Jubo League in Satkania Upazila of Chattogram.

According to prison sources, he was taken to Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital after feeling unwell on Wednesday morning, where the doctor declared him dead. 

The cause of death was mentioned as respiratory complications.

Senior Jail Superintendent of Chattogram Central Jail Md. Iqbal Hossain said that Nurul Alam was arrested in a case on Tuesday afternoon and sent to the prison. After being taken to the prison, he fell ill. When his physical condition deteriorated on Wednesday morning, he was quickly sent to CMC Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared him dead around 7:30am.
