Oikyafront to take part in polls, demands deferment of schedule

Jatiya Oikyafront will participate in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election under the ruling Awami League government as part of their movement for 'restoration of democracy'.    

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement on behalf of Dr Kamal Hossain, top leader of the newly formed political alliance, at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the city on Sunday. 

In the written statement he said, "Oikyafront will take part in the election as part of their movement for restoration of democracy. But we are demanding deferment of schedule of the general election by one month."   

Oikyafront is not moving away from its seven-point demand, Fakhrul said adding that “We call for the current schedule to be scrapped and a new schedule to be announced deferring the election date by one month.”
