Dr Kamal not contesting for election

Jatiya Oikyafront top leader and Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain would not participate in the 11th parliamentary election slated to be held on December 30.

Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury confirmed the matter to media after submitting his nomination paper to the Returning Officer of Dhaka this noon.   

"We are going towards desperation day by day over the national election. Election Commission's behaviour is indicating that they want to hold a questioned election, he said.   

Dr Kamal formed Gono Forum in 1993 leaving Awami League following contradiction with party leaders over 1991 election results.

The renowned lawyer was Law Minister in 1972 and Foreign Affairs Minister from 1973 to 1975.
