Independent candidates won't be nominated in future: Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that those who are willing to contest as independent candidates against the party's nominees in the local government elections will not be nominated in future.

He called upon all concerned to refrain from activities against the discipline and interests of the party.

Obaidul Quader said this at a regular briefing at his official residence on Thursday morning.

Quader said Awami League is a big political party. It is normal to have more than one eligible candidate in any election. So there is an opportunity to evaluate those who are deprived of nomination as per their qualifications.

He said there are two nomination boards - local government and parliamentary - headed by Sheikh Hasina to finalize the Awami League candidates in each election.
