AL announces mayoral candidates in 31 municipalities

The Awami League has announced the names of the party's mayoral candidates in 31 municipal elections of the country in the fifth phase. 

They will contest in the fifth round of elections to be held on February 28 carrying the boat symbol.

Their names were finalized at a meeting of the Awami League's Local Government Representative Nomination Board held at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's official residence Ganobhaban at 11am on Saturday.

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister and President of the Awami League Local Government Representative Nomination Board.

After the meeting, the names of the candidates were announced in a press release signed by Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua.

The meeting also finalized Awami League nominated candidates in four upazilas and three union council elections.
